Upcycling beginners, DIY newbies and lost souls of the flea market, rejoice! Lara Spencer, flea market guru and popular American television journalist, is here to help. She has a keen eye and penchant for turning trash into treasure, and is full of tips and creative ideas on how to incorporate vintage finds into contemporary spaces.
Spencer grew up in New York City, where she attended Pennsylvania State University on an athletic scholarship for springboard and platform diving and was a nationally recognized competitive diver. In 1991, she graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
After working as a correspondent with a number of TV broadcasters around America, Spencer finally pursued her passion for bargain hunting by creating, hosting and executively producing her very own show Flea Market Flip for HGTV. The show challenges teams to transform flea market finds and other cast-offs into one-of-a-kind pieces that they, hopefully, can flip for a profit. Spencer had also published two books, I Break for Yard Sales in 2012, and Flea Market Fabulous, which made The New York Times best-seller list.
